It sounds very much like dodgy media to me mate. What brand is the disk?..Did you accidently scratch it? Have you tried it on your pc or a friends dvd player?

Media sounds dodgy to me too.

Are you saying it works fine in the Warfedale but not in your other player or do you only have the Warfedale in which the disc played fine one day and and wouldn't play the next? Just trying to clarify :)

My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

Hmmmm....

What I noticed from the original post was:
Quote:
I got a film on dvd-r yesterday.......
now, to me that implies that someone else burned the disk...

Bit dodgy??

I have 2 dvd players, it works fine in one of them which is an oritron one, the one it used to work in was the wharfedale, but not any more. Don't know what brand the disk is cos it has a label stamped on the actual disk, but the underside is purple, does that have anyting to do withit? like what colour the laser can pick up?

Thanks

No dear, the color has nothing to do with it -

(Though I wished it came in something more easily matched to my wardrobe)

More often then not your friend used "el Cheapo" media which means that playing can't be counted upon :-(

You might try cleaning the disk - use rubbing alcohol and a soft, cotton cloth, rubbing very firmly from the center, straight out to the edge -
