Need a new drive for burning games???!!!

i tried backing my games up the other day and my drive didnt even read the disc. its origional and my drive is an ide. do i need a special drive for reading the discs and burning them? if so, is it worth all that just to keep the discs in good condition...

you need to do some reading.
yes, you need a specific dvd drive to read your orig xbox 360 games.
maybe you need to read the ultimate sticky.
as far as if it is worth it to backup your games, you will spend about the same to replace one game due to scratches than it would to buy the stuff to backup that game.
so i guess if you scratch up two games it is well worth it.

i have read that i could use my xbox drive but windows wont pick it up as a dvd drive...is it possible to use it? and if so, are there drivers that i need for windows?
