Hi

I have followed all the instructions for installing the HBC and everything works very well with homebrew installed onto the sd as well as backups, i keep reading about WAD's and IOS, what are they and what do they do ?
On my HBC i have cIOS installer and backup launcher.
I haven't yet connected to the net because of the possible issues with updating, i'm currently on 3.3e, there seems so much written about this that i am now confused, can i install something on the Wii or do i need this Wiiblocker on each backup?

Any help with sorting my confusion would be greatly appreciated

Wads are self-contained channels for the wii menu or firmware patches. The channel ones contain various homebrew programs, virtual console titles, or wiiware games. The ones that have IOS in the name or cIOS in the name are firmware patches and custom (or hacked) firmware patches respectfully.

And you dont need to run brickblocker on any of your backups. Since you're using the backup loader it will automatically block all updates from disks. And even if you werent using the backup loader so long as you're using games from your wii's home region you're perfectly safe.

Could you please give me an example of what i can actually do with these WAD's? i appear to be doing what i need but am wondering if there are other things that i haven't thought of?

You tell me i'm ok with not updating with discs, but what about if i connect to the net?
