Yeah, just be cautious. When you have someone do it for you, you want to
- get your original drive info (key)
- make sure he's using latest firmware (iXtreme 1.5 - 1.4 for Hitachi)
- see it play backups and originals before you leave with it.
- get your warranty sticker undamaged

if you have the benq version, you will need to take off the front face plate and look through the 3rd hole, if you see white wires, its a benq, if you see yellow, its a lite-on.

I you have him do it, make sure he's using the latest programs for the Lite On, because the earlier programs don't extract all the necessary info.

actually he is in michigan lol, I only know because he has done ALOT for me. anyway i am not to far from you, I am in NH. flashing from me is 30$ you pay shipping both ways.
