I have extracted the key and then erased the current firmware. I was on step 26 and I didn't read what the message said because I just clicked yes like the instructions told me. When I realized I was supposed to power cycle the drive, I did but it was way after the 1 second specified (like 15 seconds). When I did this, my computer froze and was forced to reboot. Now whenever I turn the power on to the drive via the connectivity kit, my whole computer freezes. It is not responding to the eject button anymore either because the firmware isn't there. What should I do? Help is much appreciated.
dont panic its a easy fix..jyou just didnt completely uninstall your via card..go to computer right click ..click on properties, device manager ..go to via click on uninstall drivers..then do to c/windows/system 32 and remove the via in there as well ..restart your computer...the drivers should be uninstalled..
If I uninstall the driver, how do I send the new firmware to the drive using my VIA 6421? But I think I did uninstall it because the yellow question mark is there where it says "Raid Controller." I actually did flash using another method. I installed I/O 32 and the ck3 drivers. Then used the tutorial mentioned above up to the step above. After that, I made a bootable USB with win98 files, and then copied over the DOS contents along with firmware created by jungleflasher (which I had to manually save after spoofing). Then I just used L-O-eras.exe (port#) repeatedly until FF72 to completely remove the firmware. Then it started to eject again. And then asked me to W-write, R-read, or E-erase, I typed 'w' and it did it.
Whats odd is after doing this the first time, it didn't work. My drive would act like it should be, but it wouldn't read a backup. Knowing that it theoretically should have worked, I tried again and it did indeed work. Note that I DID NOT have to remove my driver for VIA6421 for this to work. In fact, I don't see how it could since it would need it to work. (I did remove them, then installed portIO32, then reinstalled the drivers again)
Also, if you use ck3 tool v1, it will install portio32 and ck3 drivers for you.
Hope this helps anyone who was in my situation.
A tutorial for how I did the second part is here and it is very good.
The same thing just happened to me despite me flashing 2 Lite-ons with the my PC with no problems before. I had to grab the DOS files off a torrent, because I didn't see them on the XS link, but I was able to boot into DOS and finish the flashing although I needed to reference this link too.
i open up jungle flasher, go to dvdkey 32 tried selecting every port, under properties it says no drive detected?
i have my sata cord connected to 360 drive to via sata 6421, power cord connected with probe to ck3 and 360 drive and power source cable connected to computer to ck3
