I've looked at all the threads on here and they have been very helpful but I am still having problems flashing my Starview Box.

I have my com-usb cable to connect the box to my laptop.

I have downloaded GTromloader and CryptStar-v1.5-Core400

I have identified which com port the connection is being run through.

I have tried to follow 'these' instructions

'Updating Firmw@re SV 1/2/3

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click b1n File & browse to the firmw@re where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.

Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE.

The Starvi*w will then reboot
'

So I open the gtrom loader and select the correct com port. I make sure app file is selected then I click bin file to browse where the firmware I downloaded.

This is when I have a problem. I go to the folder I have all my downloads saved in but nothing shows up as a .bin file. So thats where I get stuck and can't go on.

For the record I have downloaded

The Box 4.57 & Loader
CryptStar v1.5
GTRom v.400

I was hoping someone could help me. I apologise if this is a simple question or has been answered on another thread or something. I have spent all morning going through various threads and haven't been able to find anything. I'd appreciate any help

I have overcome the problems with finding the bin files (forgot to extract them). However, now the problem is that when I try to download the files it keeps saying 'download failed'

What b0x have you got, SV1 or SV2 The B0x?
The Crypstar v.15 is for the sv1 as is the GTRom 4.00

The 4.57 is for SV2 The B0x.

I assume you are using the correct (null modem) cable?
If you are using vista, then your best bet would be to find someone with xp & flash it from that.
There are too many problems flashing boxes using vista.

Ok, make sure the b0x is on standby (clock showing)
Open GTRom & select the bin file, also make sure app only is selected.
Try to download again.

If this fails, turn the b0x off at the back, hit download in the GTRom, wait about 3 secs & turn the b0x back on & see if this works.
This may take a good few attempts.
