I just turned on my 360 and got 1 red light and a E 74 msg on screen, what does this mean? Anyone?

it means you should send it to microsoft or find the exact error code and tell us what it is. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726

read that to find out how to get the error code. report back when you have more info.
