I love the demo. I think that it's better than the Killzone 2 demo, mostly because there's more to do in RE5.

The co-op feature is very good, I haven't played any previous Resident Evils, so I thought that this game requires some tactic.
I've been repeatedly playing online co-op and it hasn't gotten repetitive yet.
All my friends are whining about the controls and stuff, and they don't like it that much.
I think that I'd buy the game when it's released.

Your thoughts?

EDIT:
I'd like to say that I bought Killzone 2 and I gotta admit I was being a complete retard for saying what I did.

Well in my opinion I think you'd have to be smoking crack to like the RE5 demo better than KZ2. THat's just my opinion and Ill tell you why.

Although RE5's graphic are very good the active onscreen is NOTHING compared to KZ2. I seriously doubt that RE5 could create the chaos onscreen that KZ2 does without suffering from horrible framerate issues.

Since we're comparing demos Ill go ahead and say the controls on RE5 suck compared to KZ2. Is this expected from a RE game? Yes. Does it excuse the fact that they are weak and make for a less appealing experience than another game when comparing? No.

Reloading ammo and amount available. I found it extremely frustrating that in RE5 you have to combine certain ammo with the gun. When out of ammo and no reload I found myself having to go into the menu in the middle of a fight combining ammo with my gun. This seems incredibly stupid. If the gun take the ammo then just let it reload it. Why do I need to combine them? Also I found myself running out of ammo and just running around for about five minutes trying not to get hit and hopefully somehow run across some I missed.

AI. KZ2's is much better. Nuff said.

Saving points. Its very frustrating not being able to have a save point. FOr the amount of work put into RE5's demo to complete it they should have some sort of save point. Atleast let me skip the cutscene by pressing select or something like KZ2. Is this there and maybe I just missed it? Maybe, but I doubt it.

There are probably more things but Im tired of typing.

In short these are two totally different games and shouldn't be compared. I have played every RE game and love the series but this probably wont be a buying for me like KZ will be.

I see.

BTW, you can reload easier by using L1 + X.

Anyway, I see why you like the KZ2 demo better. KZ2 gameplay is fun but I haven't played enough of it.
I must say that KZ2 controls are much better. There's no combinations in controls, and there's the controller settings where you can set it to Call of Duty controls, that was great for me.

And yeah, you can skip the cutscene in RE5 by pressing select, but I only found that out because of YouTube videos, so that was frustrating.

And again, I like KZ2 but I just haven't played enough of it to decide how good it is.
I'd still buy it though.

For what little I could play of it, RE5 seemed like a pretty decent game. The controls felt a lot like MGS4, actually, in that you held L1 to whip out the gun, and then pressed R1 to fire and X to reload and all that stuff. When I looked at the button configs in the menu, it seemed so unnecessarily complicated, but it's a lot better in practice.

The one thing that frustrates me is the inability to move while aiming. Granted, this is most likely intentional so as to add some suspense to the game, but making them move at a crawl while aiming wouldn't take away from the suspense, either. That and the quick-turn feature was just... annoying.

But I only managed to get to the cutscene anyway, and then the demo always locked up for me - the loading screen stuttered, and stuttered, and when I tried accessing the XMB to quit, the loading icon showed up but nothing happened, and eventually the game froze and I just had to shut the PS3 off manually. I could download it again and try installing it again, but I'm too lazy at the moment. Seems like a decent game, though.

I find it strange that you guys decided to compare RE5 and Killzone, because... they're two completely different games. That's like comparing a minivan to a race car. They're two completely different automobiles, so they shouldn't be compared to each other.

That comment you made, grkblood, about the graphics is just... no offense, but it's unjustified. After all, RE5 isn't supposed to be a big war game where you've got things flying everywhere and explosions throwing dirt in your face and all this other stuff. It's a horror game - not much needs to happen at once.

Well, I wasn't really comparing KZ2 to RE5 but they're the 2 demos right now that has been mostly played and I'm saying that I have more fun in RE5 because it's longer.
And yeah, the controls did seem complicated but I got used to it in about 5 minutes and since I do have MGS4, it was easier because as you said, the controls are quite similar.

I liked the RE5 demo, graphics were great. Takes a while to get used to the controls though. I haven't play KZ2 demo yet, I'll have to try that out.

It needs alot of fine tuning, but it is an earlier version of the game so god knows what they've changed since then. The main thing that annoys me that they've confimed wont change is that you literally cant do anything while moving.

I thinks in unfair to compare the KZ2 demo versus the RE 5 demo. Its apples versus oranges IMO. With the RE 5 demo I was hoping that the PS3 controller config was going to be better that the 360's but it was not. I also feel like they made the controls more complicated than it really needed to be. I don't think that the controls were hard, it's a pain in the butt. For instance running. Was it real necessary to combine x and up on the left analog stick? Whats wrong with just relying on the analogs sticks sensitivity? If you push up slightly on it then you would walk. If you push hard then you would run. Also why is it that button commands were needed to pick up things like gold and ammo that the zombies dropped? When your being overwhelmed by 5 or more zombies its a pain in the butt when you had to pick up ammo specially when your low. I also feel that beside the addition of co-op its not really all that different than RE4.
Its basically an apple but to make it "better" they dipped it in caramel(caramel being the co-op mode online/offline)but inside is the same plain old apple.
The only knock I had on KZ2 is the length and I wish they added online to the demo. The control for me seem weird but that's because for the last year and a half all I've been playing for FPS is COD4 and COD:WAW. I am looking forward to KZ2s' multiplayer.

i actually like both of the games I'm pulling towards Kz2 more though just because i feel that the graphics and Gameplay was amazing. RE5 was good but i felt like it had its pros and cons like every game. for the majority RE5 felt like RE when i picked it up it still had the same zombie feel and the same over-the-shoulder shooting scheme that was in RE4. i like the fact that i feel that there are more zombies that come towards you and that you now have a partner who bails you out of tough and close situations. However i do not like the fact that there wasn't enough ammo to take on all the zombies and that sometimes in the middle of a battle you find yourself in your inventory during the gameplay. for the majority it is RE but i would still prefer RE4 over RE5. as for killzone goes i thought that the game was flat out awesome. despite the controls its a great game i agree with bawango that the demo wasn't enough to grasp the game and i am looking forward to the multiplayer for this game as well so i will have this game by launch day IMO i think that both of the games are good but i would place my 60 bucks towards Kz2 then again at the end of the day im just stating my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinion this is just my take on this.

You can always change the KZ2 controls to 'Alternative 2' (or 1).
That's the exact Call of Duty 4/5 controls.

Quote:

You can sprint by using the analog stick itself. Just do the same you do with COD4/5.

And yes, they should've included multiplayer in the KZ2 demo.

Also, I agree that the RE5 controls are unnecessarily complicated.
Thanks for replying, everyone :)

Have you people not play any other RE titles? The controls are all the same. So I dont see why people are complaining when its been this way since the very first RE...

PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

it started from the first post with the comparison. in a comparison debate the argument is valid.

Well, actually, the first RE was NOT like this new RE. This new one has an entirely new control scheme compared to the first. The first had you pressing up on the D-pad to go forward, and turning by pressing left/right, and back by pressing down. That is nothing at all like RE5, where you can move the camera with the right stick.

RE5 is more like RE4 and RE4 is more like RE Dead Aim.
The last old school RE was Code Veronica-X
About the odd controls and the combine gun with bullets thing, this things are that makes this game a little bit more resident evil.
