Hi all,
With respect to my previous post, regarding RecordNow being discontinued etc.
I have received a reply from Orlogix.
Below is my original email, followed by Orlogix's response:
Original Email
---------------------------
I am a long-time user of Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0, and have recently upgraded my dvd burner to a Pioneer 107 (previously a Pioneer A04) and am looking for an upgrade to the application.
I have managed to trace the line (Prassi -> Veritas -> Sonic).
I HATE the look of the Sonic product, but I have noticed the technology is licenced to yourselves, Stomp and EasySystems.
Stomp is discontinuing the product.
Your site says nothing about discontinuing, though worryingly, there is nothing about px updates, and the supported drives list seems very out-of-date.
A few questions, if you please:
1 - will you continue to sell the product with the same/similar interface for the forseeable future?
2 - will an up-to-date supported drives list be published?
3 - will px engine updates be available?
4 - can I PURCHASE px engine updates? (I wish to continue using my Prassi product, all that will
be required is the engine updates)
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours..
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm
At present, we have no intentions of discontinuing RecordNow.
The PX engines currently available on our site are the most recent, although an up-to-date list of supported drives has not yet been issued to us by Sonic, who are the developers.
Sonic are responsible for the PX engines and will
continue to produce them as long as they continue the product.
The PX engine update is a free service, allowing users to buy the newest drives and continue to use their older software.
We would recommend downloading the PX engine updates from our website -
http://www.orlogix.com/support_download.php?type=updates&pn=rndx
- and see does this allow your software to recognise your burner.

So, the Good News(tm) is:
RecordNow Max is STILL available with the "proper" interface (not the stupid one as supplied by the Sonic product).
RecordNow Max will CONTINUE to be available in the "proper" format while Sonic continue to support the product.
Px engine updates (as Sonic) are available for free, and will continue to be available.
The supported drive list as on the Sonic product is the one to check.
YIPEEE!!!!
I can now go back to supporting and recommending RecordNow Max (as supplied by Orlogix)...
Sorry all you Nero fanatics, your nemesis is STILL around....
Byeeeee...

Me a Techie geek, I use the best I can find.
If anything better comes along, and I can see REAL benefit as a result of testing (I have NO emotional attachment to any program), I would change in a heartbeat....
The important points are:
REAL benefit..
.. TESTING
So, when Nero can meet MY demanding criteria, I will happily change
NOTE: I have always recommended Nero for CD/VCD/General CD copying etc. etc.
I use Nero 5.5.10.20 for the above, but not DVDs of any form.
Sorry herbs, you gonna havta put up with me for a bit longer (until I find something better - then I will be a thorn in your side about THAT program) ! LOL !
Have Fun...

Hiya,
To buy in US dollars, go to:
http://www.orlogix.com/store/default.php
and select US Dollar in the currency dropdown.
You can pay for a Download Version or A CD Version, the choice is yours.
No problems...

Now now guys, guys guys!!! Sonic RecordNow! Deluxe has got all of its interfaces in their individual tabs. In fact I have dumped roxio over Sonis. It has DLA capabilities even tho it is awkward it doesnt crash like roxio often did. Its a true all in one burning proggie. My 3 bytes worth, anyway.

um, the tab for burning DVDs for instance consists of
1) the file
2) a "burn" button
the end

Hiya,Quote: My question is, can I trade in my stupid Sonic version?
Almost certainly not (different company).
You could ask them, maybe you would get offered a "Competitive Discount", but it is doubtful.
Probably your best bet is the ebay route, there are LOTS of people on there that will buy stuff for almost-full-price coz it is "Shiny!!".
Good Luck mate..

Cheese,
its not what you do after a burn, its what you do BEFORE a burn, like maybe setting a couple options. Or do you just stick a DVD in the drive, click "burn" and hope for the best?

I only use recordnow to burn cause the rest had been taken care of by CloneDVD, SmartRipper, or dvddecrypter. I dont see any need for anymore extra features and that makes it simple for noobs, thank you very much!!
