I have read a lot of threads about applying the 120gb hddss.bin file to the WD BEVS 120gb hdd with the HDDHackr program. But when I ordered my laptop, they actually shipped the same type of fujitsu hdd that comes in the 360 120gb hdd so I am trying to use that as a 120gb hdd for my 360. Ive tried to apply that bin file to the hdd but the program said it didn't recognize the hdd. Is there any other way I can apply that bin to the hdd. I am using a VIA 6421 chipset, but I also have ICH7 but i haven't tried using it yet. Does the hdd have to be formatted any particular way before you try to apply the bin file? Any suggestions? Thank you.

i think the .bin file only works on the bevs1200

If the bin is opened up with a hex editor, you can see the exact model number of the Fujitsu model. I haven't tried just putting the hdd in, but i will try that soon. Also, does the hdd have to be formatted say, to NTFS or FAT32?

what mike said is correct... the utility only works with western digital BEVS series drives...

I have a suggestion but not yet tried it. I will as soon as I get home. Try Norton Ghost. Backup a known good 120 fUJI w/norton ghost to an image file. Then check the properties of the image file in norton ghost to see the file format, ntfs or Fat,etc... then clone the drive. Then you will have two 120 gb drives......

If someone else has tried Norton Ghost with 360 hard drives please chime in and let me know if I am waisting my time.

ya it might be worth trying but i doubt it would work ... i believe the hddhackr utility flashes the firmware of the drive... which is something beyond the scope of norton ghost to backup/restore....
