So I sent my main 360 in for RROD (sent it thursday and it's already shipping back to me) the serial # hasn't been changed on the svc site, so is it safe to assume they actually repaired my box instead of swapping for a refurb? Also, does anyone know how I can find out exactly what was done to it?
what was the problem you sent it in for?
maybe they are sending a refurb with diff serial but it hasnt updated on the site yet? if it was a simple problem they may have very well repaired it.
It was RROD, subcode 0010 which points to the southbridge chip. I wouldn't think it would be a simple repair. Maybe they can reflow that chip without having to strip it out of its shell? I've seen console swaps where the serial was updated before it shipped, not after though.
hmmm well lets hope this isnt the case but maybe they did a shoddy job and it isnt really fixed. if it was the southbridge then like u said it seems it would have taken them longer. and usually i think they issue a refurb in those cases. so lets hope it didnt get there and work corectly and a tech looking to get his repair numbers for the day just sent it thru the quality checks quickly to get his numbers up. i used to work in laptop repair center for IBM(used to be orig xbox repair center) and that happened constantly with bad techs trying to milk their numbers for the day and not do any real work.
no way it worked correctly, I've had it for a couple weeks with the RROD and would occasionally power it on just to see. I really hope they didn't swap the whole thing, mine was in pristine condition. I've been doing repairs on the side lately, even bought a couple busted ones off ebay for parts and practice, and most of them look like they've been through a warzone. Timmies must use them when they can't find a hockey puck, what with all the scuffs and gouges.
I am going to say the pulled the x-clamps off reapplied some thermal compound to the cpu and gpu, and slapped it back together. Maybe they have a way to heat it all back down the same as we would overheat one after doing the x-clamp mod.
If its the same box I don't see how anything else would be logical, to fit into their ridiculously tight pockets.
