Are Xbox 360 DLC region free or not ?

Hello everyone. I wanted to ask this question about the Xbox 360 game DLCs. Are they region specific or not?

I am actually interested in this offer:

Which is giving away the GTA4 Lost and the Damned DLC away. Now I have an Asian Xbox 360, with a UK Based Xbox LIVE Account. I am asking the above question with regards to this. If I purchase the GTA4 DLC from Amazon.com what are the chances that it will (or will not) work for me ?

if u buy it from anywhere except the marketplace all u are doing is buying a code that u put into live and it lets u download the Lost and damned. There is no way to get it on a disc or anything else it is download only. now dont take this as gold but i am assuming if u download it will detect what region u are and such, also detect region of ur console and your copy of gta4 maybe. but like i said im not sure about that.

as far as i know, the codes are locked to the region where they came from. (ie a year of gold or a dlc code such as the damned from europe will only work on pal GAMERTAGS). i am 100% sure that system doesnt matter because i have a few friends who bought castlevania off of a japanese account by ordering a japanese 1600 msp card and downloaded it to an american system.

so this makes life pretty easy for you. get the deal, and if the code isnt in your region, make a new hotmail that states that you are from the region the code is from. then use the cod eon that account on your xbox and you are good to go. you can either use that gold time card on that account or sell it for some spare $ :P

Just about positive dlc is region locked. I remember all the problems people were having when the CoD4 maps were released.
