My wii won't power on

i was playing the genesis emulator
and went to go back to my homebrew channel where it just went black and did not respond
so i unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it won't even power on, what the hell have i done?
can somebody give me some advice quick please.

Leave it unplugged for about 10-15 minutes and try it again, and of course check all the connections. While it's unplugged test the outlet with another device to make sure it's still got power going to it.

Ok this was strange, i unplugged it and tried in a different outlet and still nothing, so i went back to the outlet i used before and you know when sometimes you start to plug something in you get some little sparks shoot out of the oulet, well that happened and the wii got power back? is the wii known to have any power pack issues?
well anyway all i know is that it now works, but it kinda makes me scared to use the emulators and roms, just in case that's got something to do with it.
i am also scared that one day while loading up some homebrew stuff
that i might brick the wii.
