Simple issue really that I can't really believe that I'm asking. I have read through the threads/guides on flashing of the box and one thing that has confused me. A basic thing that the experienced lads/lasses on here will laugh at the noob for, but here goes.

Looking to flash Starview 3 The Box and had to wait for USB connector before attaching the null modem etc, only for the cable not to be recognised by my laptop and had given it up as too much of a pain so I'm a bit behind.

Neighbours PC has a 9-pin plug and am going to give it one last effort tonight.

I have read the guides as closely as I could, but one thing confuses me is whether using the GTrom loader for the Starview 3, if you need a Bin file also. I cant find one in the library and wondering if it was neccessary, and if I need to source one myself.

You are a generous bunch and I hope you arent going to abuse me for my idiotic question.

Thanks in advance.

One final question hopefully.

When updating should I use the latest firmware (makes sense) or should I use the firmware mentioned in the guides (8.02)

Again, apologies for the idiocy questions.
