Hi , i have a 120 GB external hard disk from toshiba its 2.5" and has 2.0 usb , 2 usb connectors.
I wanted to use it for videos,audio files for my ps3 so I went through many websites and figured how to do it. I deleated the 2 partitions in the HDD (ntfs) and made 1 partition which i later formated with the help of swiss knife to FAT32.
IT is definately FAT32 now since whenever i plug it into my computer and go to the drive > properties > it says file system FAT32 119 gb.
I created the PS3 Folder with a VIDEO inside it and added my videos

Now this is the problem . After all that when i connected my HDD to my ps3 it didnt detect it. When i plug in the main usb port the power of the hdd keeps switching on and off repeatedly , but when i plug in the 2nd usb the power stays on and doesnt turn off , *remains stable* but it still does not detect the Hard disk.

I know i havent done anything wrong because after hours of plugging it in and in again (both usb ports into the ps3) it once showed the usb got detected and all the files were their, But as soon as i unplugged them and plugged them back in it was gone.

Can any 1 help me out , what might be the problem and solution? I tried using a diffrent usb wire which was single and not double but it had the same problem , the hard disk kept switching on and off.

The usb powered drives are a bit finicky, try plugging in the 2nd power usb into the computer using a usb extension cable. The ps3's usb ports might not have the amperage to power the HDD.
