Hi, with all the talk of the big changes on the way, here are some tips on receiving free digital tv at the minimum of cost .this will not replace all we are used to but by any standard delivers quite a bit.
1. get ready for DTT , it might be worth investing in an mpeg4 cam to receive all the terrestrial channels , all new tv's over 32 inch will have a cam slot and if they have their own dvb-t tuner this will convert mpeg4 to mpeg2.
2 Remember that not all channels are encrypted so if you have mmds you may still get some terrestrial channels on your current fta box
2 install satellite system to get more channels the freesat channels are great with hd ones also ,to buy a complete system costs about 80 to 250 euro and if you can install it you will save but an alternate would be going for the current s@y offer , getting one package for a year including installation and a s@y plus hd box works out at about the same cost.then after the year you just unsubscribe but you will have all the free channels and a plus hd box and no hassle and free tv for the rest of your days..a tip would be to replace the standard lnb with a multie one with a least four feeds to allow multie room viewing.
so for the minimum investment and hassle you could get rte1 , rte2, tv3,bbc 1 to 4, itv 1 to 4, channel4 ,e 4 , more 4, film 4, sky news, all bbc sports channels, childrens channels like kix, pop, cbeebies, citv, zone reality, zone horror, lots of music channels like bubble hits, cnn, fashion tv and many more...
its worth thinking about and in the long run is cost neutral

Thats true but just for those who like to save money i posted this. The sat boxes you buy in Lidl are easily patchable and if you work with a motorized dish , you can get stations like Cartoon Network , Jetix, Discovery and good movie channels and many sports carrying english audio , there was lots more but most providers moved to Nagra3...
Here's a thought the cams for DTT accept cards that can be programmed , im not sure but i think that the encryption method will be cas7 so there might be a patch available but not sure, ill have to look into it but do remember seeing something on a sat forum..
i suppose the purpose was just to show we have options
