Can someone please tell me how I can burn this WMV-HD (11.5 gigs) on to a disc? I would like to split the file into 3 dvds and be able to watch each disc separately.

Any ideas? thanks

Do you want to just split the file into three pieces? Or are you looking to convert it into a DVD movie as well?

I would like to burn it onto dvd disc. Reason for the splitting is because of the size issue.

I haven't worked with WMV files much... or at all, actually. So whatever I say is just hearsay. It might work for you, it might not.

Anyway. What you'll need to do first is split the files, obviously. I heard of a Windows Media Encoder or something like that that should be able to split your file fairly easily.

After that, it's a fairly simple process of converting it to a DVD file. For that, there's a few guides here you can try using:

I'm not sure how your results'll turn out, though, because for one, I've never worked with WMV files, and for another, I think the reason why is because the WMV format is very subpar compared to other modern codecs.

Anyway. Good luck with that.

As KajNrig pointed out, you can use one of the tools included in the Windows Media package (Utilities > Windows media File Editor) to split WMV files.
If you do use it, be aware that if you split a file you must use 'Save As' from the menu - else the change is made immediately to the source file and half your file is now gone - there's no undo feature.
To prevent accidents, either work with a copy or change the source file properties to 'Read Only.
