So a week or two ago, my dvd drive broke. I posted here about replacing it, and got some information. I know I can buy a new one off ebay and flash it.
Trouble is, I'm not positive my drive is a BenQ, because we peeled the sticker off the DVD drive when taking it apart. (Dumbass)
Here are some pictures of it.

Now if it is indeed a BenQ drive, is it possible to flash it without that sticker? I understand you need a special DVD drive code. I'm thinking I may as well just flash it with modified firmware since I'm replacing it anyway. I have a ton of computers and many SATA cables, so that's not a problem. XP too.
I've found BenQ drives on ebay for 30$ or so.
Please, give all the information you can. I've looked at countless youtube videos, tutorials on the web, etc, and I can't figure out if it's possible without the sticker. I don't even know what's on that sticker, or how to find your DVD key.
Please help!

Ah sweet!
I think this is exactly what I needed. I'll order one off of ebay and give it a try.
Thanks man.

The key isn't on the sticker. You get the key by dumping the firmware (reading it). You will need the key so you can spoof the replacement drive.
If you don't have a backup of the firmware or key you will need to dump it from the original drive. So if your original drive is non-functional your probably out of luck.

You can't just pull one drive from a 360 and use it in another. Each drive is "married" to the motherboard with a key (a string of numbers and letters).
So for you to swap drives, you need to retrieve the key from drive A and swap it in to drive B.

Wife swap.
My xbox drive is recognized, it just doesn't read disks anymore. Judging from this nature, I assume I can "dump" it since it still technically functions.
Again guys, thanks for the help.
