I mtrying to put my Hitachi 47 in modeB using an Express PCI Card and Slax.
after booting from the CD...i get all those commands from Slax..including some I dont have the time to read and referring to errors...in the end, I get to the Slax main menu but without ever having seen the message "spinning up disc"> If I reboot to Windows then after THe drive is still undetected.
If previously i try entering slax commands as "modeb /dev/sdc" or "modeb /dev/sda" i get input/output error messages.
I dont have any knowledge even basic abt slax.do u have any idea how to fix that? and does it make any difference if i use an express PCI instead of a normal one?
pls note also its not a VIA..
any help is welcome
tnx
hi bud, couple of quick questions about your set up , 1 is 360 connected to drive to power it or are u using a ck3 power source converter, 2 have you plugged in the av lead on 360.
easy guide
1 power on 360 if thats the way your powering it, and then switch on pc with slax cd in, boot slax
or
1 power on pc with ck3 and hit mode b button, no slax cd needed
2 run iprep 101 v6 its better and more stable than v8 beta
3 fire up ixtreme 1.4 or 360 fw tool box 48
i found fw toolbox better for hitachi but each to there own, extract key
save key
hit the hack firmware button select your drive
install firmware
jobs a good un
slax does not require u to don anything to get into mode b, as long as theres power to drive and your sata card recognises the drive on boot up ur ok it will do it all for u
tnx for the info.
I m powering the drive through the console itself.
I dont have the Ck3 kit and that s why i m doing it with SLax.
my question is: Is it possible to see in SLax if the Sata card recognizes the drive ? especially that i never get from Slax any message saying that the drive is in mode B.add to that the fact that once i boot again in windows(without having shut the console of course)i dont see the drive in my list of dvd drives...
I guess I m never reaching modeB in the first place but cant figure why.
Express PCI card incompatibility maybe? but i was told anything could flash a Hitachi 47...
If it doesn't work you can always try the two wire trick,It's the only way I got my Hitachi in mode B and I didn't even use a resistor as then it did't work.5 seconds was more than enough.
hey guys...tnx for the tip ...but here s the Joke!.
i was a bit reluctant to use the 2wires tricks fearing i could brick my drive. so what I did, is connecting my drive to the PC through the Sata cable that is usually plugged in the DVD-R of the PC (and goes to the motherboard) .
i then booted with Slax CD in the DVD-RW and it worked!
then after, when flashing the firmware, i chose as letter, the letter that corresponded to the original DVD-R drive..and it flashed...
now I m playin a back up of my GTA4 and i have aside a PCI express card that was never used for anything.
I guess it s true when they say Toshiba 47 can be flashed by almost anything
