HITACHI 59 not playing backups

Ok im sure someone has had this problem....I flashed my drive with 1.4 ixtreme and was 100% successful. Still plays original games and connects to xbl. However i have tried burning back ups and no luck. I use abgx360 to verify stealth, i have also used xbox back up to verify stealth. all pass. i then use imgburn to create the disk. Opening the .dvd file and making sure the layer break is right. Then i change the book type to dvdrom. I also use verbatium 2.4 dvd+r DL made in singapore. I am using a brand new lite-on drive i just bought tonight. Dvd burns perfect when i put the disk in my 360 it take about 15 -20 seconds and says open tray. I have tried reflashing my drive back top original and the with the 1.4 again but same thing happens. so far i have 5 disks are coasters. any info would be helpful.

just guessing, but when i flashed my 59 my backups wouldnt load well at all. i eventually took the drive apart and cleaned the laser real well and now i have no problems. if that doesnt work, you might need a new laser.

even though my originals never fail..not even once. Seems strange but i will try cleaning it thanks for the help
