My Wii will be arriving today, all I have are what some site refers to as 3rd quality media, pretty bad stuff. I ordered a spindel of Taiyo Yuden which I'm told is good stuff, but it won't be here till midweek or so. In the mean time, does bad media always not work, or will it eventually work with a number of burns eventually?

It depends on your wii. Some wii's are alot more forgiving of bad media than others. And some are extremely picky.

My wii will read damn near anything I can throw at it, and though I try to use good media I do have a few games burned on off-brand disks from when I ran out of verbatums.

One of my friends has a wii that, of the dozen or so brands we've tried, will only read verbatum -R and memorex +R.

The other issue is that the ink in DVDs breaks down over time. On good media this takes decades, but with some brands this can happen in as little as a few months. So a game you burn on crappy media now might work just fine, but dont be surprised if it decides to stop working some day.
