I have been drove crazy by the fact that my computer keeps shutting down all on it's own when I'm converting movies.
I was using an earlier version of ConvertxtoDvd and had no problems, then all of a sudden 2 weeks ago it started shutting down. So I got the latest version CtoDvd and it still does the same thing.
I have upgraded the computer to all the latest drivers and what not, still shuts-off. I spent 20 minutes cleaning it out with compressed air,
I can hear the fan running and in some instances I big wirr sound, not sure fan or hard drive.
CPU temp is 40 deg.
Anybody can help would be appreciated.

I would find out for sure if it only happens with ConvertX (doesn't sound likely) by using another converter like DVD Flick.
If it still happens, defragment the hard drive.

Thanx for fast reply and yea only with CTDvd, which worked no prob's for longest while.
And I defrag all the time.

Run your computer with the case open. Check to see if the fan on the power supply is running. When it shuts down again check if the power supply is hot.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

Thanx alot guys, I finally figured it out for now atleast.
It was a driver I missed to update and of course the machine had more dust I didn't get.
Compressed air is godsend.
All good now.

Luther, this was happening to me all the time after I upgraded some of my components. Buy a larger power supply, install another fan for cooling, make sure you have enough RAM and you'll be good to go. The power supply and fan are the most important though. You need enough juice to run these video cards and apps and you need to keep your RAM and motherboard cool. I did this and I have a brand new computer. Just make sure if you have a Dell to buy a Dell power supply or you need an adapter (just google Dell power supply adapter). Hope that helps : )

Well it started again, I was just grooving along and all of a sudden wham, shuts down.
Fricking thing driving me crazy, is it possible that I should go back to the older version.
