I am trying to flash my friends Hitachi 59. I am using the Flash any Hitachi With iXtreme 1.4 found in the ultimate sticky. I do everything to the letter. Its says in cmd windows that everything is done. It won't play backup games and when I check it with FW Toolbox says the original file is still on it. Here is what the CMD Prompt says I cut and pasted it

I just wanted to add it plays regular games fine just no backups. The backups are good I play them on mine with no problem. Like i stated I check what firmware is on it with firmware toolbox and it pulls off the same file as original after it says flashed. I looked at the 2008 hacking 360 for noobies and it showed some differences on there cmd prompt> Im very stumped..lol....Just makes me wanna figure it out more...

I had problems with the same hitachi drive and the thing I learned is that they are very picky drives. I would clean laser, check motor and or lossen the srews on the motor no more the two full turns,. You can also pot tweak it but more difficult because if you don't do it right then you'll burn your laser. if that doesn't work I would suggest that you let your friend know that he might need a new laser, you can get one for like 6.00 on ebay beacause I doubt it's the firmware I went through 3 drive before one stoped give me problems with all tweaks.

What is the error message after it attempts to read the disc? If you are getting the "Open Tray" problem... You might want to adjust the POT Calibration of the DVD drive. 47s-59s Hitachi drives are known for this "Open Tray" problem.

Just re-reading your original post, try flashing 1.4 to the Hitachi through Firmware Toolbox.

here's link of a pic of the motor and the three screws, remember lossen no more then 2 whole turns. this actually helps the laser get closer to the disc and will read better.

The wierd thing is when I classic dup firmware using toolbox it shows the original bin not the hacked bin...This means its not writing the hacked bin to the dvd rom?

Go ahead and try to flash the ix1.4 firmware to the Hitachi through Firmware Toolbox. Normally if you try putting a backed up disc in an unmodded 360, it will give you the "Please put this disc in a XBOX 360" Screen. So sounds like you have the have the hacked firmware on there. But when you use the classic dump, is it just naming the dump original.bin or whatever. Load the firmware file and it should tell you what it is. Normally with ix firmware it will show the version and speed next to the rom version of the firmware. POT calibration is fairly simply. You just need a multimeter and you read the resistance of the laser. Google POT calibration, the first link is a good tut. It is normal to read xbox 360 originals and not back ups if your laser strength is too low. The dye in the backup is harder to read.
