i would make sure that all the ribbon cables (the white flat ones with blue ends) are all slotted in properly.
Check to see if anything came unsoldered perhaps?

Yes, you don't have the ribbon cable plugged in to the bottom right port. In fact, you're missing then entire spindle motor assemble. The drive obviously won't work without it.

if i were to get a new drive would the firmware board be good for swapping it into the new one? Llamma.com suggested this since flashing it may cause bricking the new drive.

if u get a new drive and the pcb board from the current one is good then yes u can swap the boards and it will work, but get the same model drive. so if u have a samsung then replace it with a samsumg.

read the sticky at the top. follow the tuturial for flashing, but after you get your key and you make your new firmware, then swap out drives and flash the firmware to the new drive. if the drive is different from the original drive you have to spoof the firmware so the drive thinks its the same one.

the key from the old drive should be in the OFW file that was created when u flashed it. OFW means orifinal firmware. you did save those files didnt you?

i dont think he ever flashed it, he bought it in this shape and just wants to get it fixed. but the safest way IMO would be to dump the firmware, and spoof it and get a benq or something to put in it. nice and quite and has a good lifespan.

yeah you're right i never flashed it or anything. Well there is a guy on ebay that has a ver 46 rom hitatchi for around 30$, should i get a version 46 to try swapping the pcb boards first, and if that doesnt work, then try flashing?

yea u are right i got this thread confused with the nommynoms guy thread lol.

i have never really done much research on spoofing, is that when u just put the key from one type drive into another type, as in taking key from a samsung and using in a benq? also i heard some ppl say spoofing is easy for ms to detect, any truth to that?

it may be, but ive never heard of that many spoofers getting banned.

if you want to get the same drive go for it. but if you decide you want to get the benq its a better drive, for the same price almost after shipping and stuff.

the thing is that im not experienced in flashing drives yet, i was planning on flashing it w/ ixtreme 1.5, so if i were to get a benq my only option would be to flash it and that way i have a bigger chance at bricking it. right? if not correct me im a newb to xbox 360 mods, i usually just work with pc's.

benqs and lite-ons dont brick. once you flash the wrong stuff to them, just erase the drive and start again. if you flash a hitachi wrong you have to send it off to get the tsop removed and read by a special machine.

also keep in mind that my hitatchi drive is pretty much in bad shape. How can i tell if the PCB works? the only way i can eject is to manual eject by sticking a screwdriver in the manual eject hole. The guy i bought it off of literally stripped it of some parts.

I have a couple of comments concerning this brick...

Does the xbox apparently work with a tv?.. I don't see anywhere in this thread that it actually fires up properly. I would be prepared to bet that the key is wrong as the machine is obviously a rrod junker which has been raided for parts.
