Hi Folks.
Please forgive me for asking a question that's already been answered,I borrowed a copy of lion king 3 from a friend of a friend and dvd shrink 3.16 gives me the following error.
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to read file F:
I know a lot of users say it is the disc dirty or damaged,Iv'e also had the cyclic redundancy check error with this disk, the thing is i managed to make an image file from said disc after a few retries and copied image to disc no problem, but now with the brand new copy i get the same message's,Is it at all possible that whoever copied the disc in the first place has copyrighted it in some way.

why are you using DVD Shrink to do a copy of a copy ???

just use DVD Decrypter to make an ISO image , then burn that ISO image with the same software :)

Hi herbsman.
Thanks for your quick reply,I should have said iv'e tried decrypter and SmartRipper similar messages,What i should maybe tell you is the copy i got from a friend stops midway through the closing titles, seems as if there was no disc space left could that be the problem,i have managed to backup my original dvd's no problem thanks to this wonderful forum,I have had similar messages from other copies when i try to back them up,but to me the discs look spotlessly clean,THANKS AGAIN.

dougal58,

Sorry to mention this but it could be crummy media that the copy was put on :-(

Otherwise, you should have been able to copy it with something like Nero using disc to disc copy or as herbsman said Decrypter said ISO IN / ISO out :-) :-)

Pete

BTW, Welcome to the Neighborhood -

douglas58 have you tried getting a tool like dvdx rescue to read the disc,if theyre is a prob with the disc it will tell you but where other tools fail this one can back the movie to your hard drive and from there you should be able to transfer it to another blank dvd-/+ r disc.

if you dont want to pay the price for that software which i should point out i bought for $130 australian dollars there is a small but useful tool on afterdawns software section called cd check.Run your disc though it see what it comes up with, at least then you should have a starting point as to what you do next

hi dougal58.........in my first early attemps i was using DVDx express to create my back-ups and found that indeed this does ceate a copy that is protected.

as has earlier been pointed out to you......DVDDECRYPTER and DVDSHRINK will sort out all these probs for ya.......and the bonus is that both are totally free!!!!

i think uncle Pete may well be right about this being poor media......try investing in a good dvd r/w disc and burn a film on that then try to take a copy of this back-up and see how you go
