Hi all hope you can help me Im trying to fix a friends box Starview The Box. At first I could not switch the box on only got 4 green lines going from left to right then the box would power off no display on the box, after reading threads from last june and december I discovered other people had the same problem as me so I followed there posts and when they got there boxes working I tried to do the same. I have flashed and flashed and now I can see the screen that says The Box and nothing else happens it just stays there. I have done more reading and I flashed with 454,logo,but I cant find the 8.02 that I think that I need please help if you can cause there is no way this F***ing box is gonna beat me please help I wanna watch the match on justin.tv. Ok here is the latest on this problem, as I said I had a genuine starview the box that was stuck on the screen with the box on it, I tried all he firmware for genuine boxes but could still not get past this screen. So when I posted this origional question and waiting for a reply I kept on looking through all the previous forums, there i came across someone else with the same problem as me and in this post he thought he had a genuine box 25 vents, scart on the right hand side etc. And this guy (i forget the exact name snd forum)was about to trow his box out the window, but before he did as a last resort he tried the clone fix CryptStar-1.4-core257.bin as found in the starview 1 folder in Eamos Library. So I tried this and first time this fixed my box that I was convinced was dead. Try this if your box sounds like mine.lfc4me.
Then you have been trying to put the incorrect Firmware on you box, )or so it seems) the Core257 is a fix for the Starview 1 clone box, but will also work quite happily on the Starview 1 Genuine, it is not for Starview 2 The Box. - What exactly does it say on the top left hand side front of box? and what does it now say in System Information on your box at the minute?
Malci it just says starview cant give you any more info as the box was working I just gave it back, but I think you could be right I may have mixed up the names. Newbie error I suppose.lfc4me.
Yes, you have now flashed it with the correct Firmware, it is Starview 1 that box, so everything is now okay, you where flashing with the Firmware for Starview 2 The Box, entirely different and not at all compatible. :) (as said the Core257.bin is fine for the clone and genuine Starview 1, which you have handed back, so all's well that ends well)
