i have been on xbox live for around a month but the other day i went to go on and it would not connect it said that it could not find hardware. i tried to turn off modem and back on etc and i have tried to change cable etc but it is still doing the same and on the 360 when u do a connection check it doesnt even get to the network part.

i dnt no wether i would need the pid code and password to do this ?, im a bit reluctent to ring as they forgot to turn myservice off over a 3 month ago?

any ideas?

When you say they forgot to turn your serive off, are you referring to your isp, if so, then they have probably turned it off, and you wont be able to connect to live without an internet connection.

my internet works fine on my laptop just not on my 360 iv tried changing the ethernet cable and it does the same so dont believe it to be that its either got to be the ethernet socket on modem or the 360 itself?

if it works on the laptop then i am assuming the laptop is wireless? cause if it waqsnt wireless then u would be either plugging into the modem which means the sicket there isnt bad or you are using a router. if u are using a router have u tried removing it and plugging 360 directly into modem?

if it does work on ur laptop u could share connection from laptop to 360 and if that doesnt work then probably the 360 ethernet port is bad

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

i have my laptop connected via a usb direct to the modem and when i go on 360 i change them round taking usb out and putting ethernet cable in directly to 360 so the laptop works and connects to the network via the usb but the 360 doesnt via the ethernet cable?

i did actually try one of my older modems when i thought it maybe the modem and using the same connections etc it got further down the test it got past the netwrok and past the internet stage but couldnt connect to xbox live but i belive this could of been due to the old modem not being quick enough?

try rebooting the modem withiut the usb connected but just ethernet to the 360, have the 360 turned off and turn the modem off too for like 1 minute and then turn the modem on and let it boot all the way up and then turn 360 on and see if u can connect
