Using:
LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model GH22NP20 - OEM
IMGBURN
VERBATIM DUAL LAYER

When writing using the .dvd file it successfully completes the burn of my backup. I've been writing at no more than 2x and have tried 1x as well and I'm making nothing but coasters, they aren't playing on my xbox. I tried a couple of my friends backups (of games I also own) and they work just fine. I tried to back up my SF IV and the first one didn't play, I manually set the layer break and the second one I made did play pretty well. Since then I haven't been able to get any other of my backups to work, even retrying another copy of SF IV. I've also tried setting the booktype and that doesn't help either. Any ideas?

By process of elimination I don't feel its the media, and I don't feel it's the xbox. It's not going to be the backup file either because it worked with one of the DVD's I made. I feel it could only possibly be IMG BURN or my burner.

I'm kind of new to this so I'm unsure how to set booktypes on the actual burner, more specifically the model I have. I couldn't find much info on my actual burner, I initially started looking for firmware updates.

Any good references on how to booktype the burner? (besides google lol)

You set the book type for the burner in imgburn by clicking the image of the small book, then click the lg tab, and set the book type to dvd-rom.

Ah yes I thought there was a different form of booktyping (booktyping the drive itself instead of the program, told ya I'm a newb hehe) -- I have done that actually and it made no difference when reburning my backup of SF IV (which worked previously)

Not to try to steal the topic but my problem is every 360 game that I own only shows up to be around 5 MB. I can't seem to get it to read the rest of the disc. I don't know if this helps or not but I used nero on my copy of SF IV and it worked fine. Write only.

I own the game but had to download the iso to see what they did. Now I am trying it myself the ripping end of it and I have had no luck.

My drive is set to dvd-rom but I have had no luck.

do you have the kreon flashed samsung drive, or a 360 drive flashed with the 0800 firmware. if not, then you really wont be able to rip it, unless you are using the winxripper method, and then you are just going to cause yourself more problems then you want to deal with.

Well I guess that would be my problem because i don't have the samsung drive at all. I have a lite-on iHap 322 and a hp dvd1140. Is there anyway to flash those drives with a proper firmware because if not then I will take one of them back and just use my 360 drive until I can find one.

I was over at xbox-scene and all those pricks knew how to do was call everyone newb and read the forumns even though I searched and could find nothing. You guys are my new home for this stuff so i am glad to be back.

neither one of those lite-on drives can be flashed with the necessary FW. you need a kreon flashed/flashable samsung drive. just ebay it, thats about the only place you will be able to get one. they should be around 40 bucks or so. of you can pick up a used samsung/benq drive off of ebay and flash the 0800 FW on it and use it via your PC. either one will work.

if your xbox 360 drive is in mode b can you use it to copy your games or does it need to have a special firmware to do so? The reason why I am asking is because I will go out and get an Arcade system and use it's drive instead taking apart my Elite system all the time.

your going to drop 200 on a system instead of 50 on a drive?

@ OP run your image through abgx360

Well I went ahead and got a pro system to use the drive and also to mod it as well. I am not currently strapped for cash so it was not that big of a deal. I tried to buy a system that was red ringed but the person and I got to discussing about that problem and I decided to tell them how to fix it since it was out of warranty and not buying it from them for dirt cheap.

So I bought a brand new system that is still in the box and I will proceed to use that from now on. I know it may sound silly but oh well I would rather have a drive that I know will work and not be sitting here with my elite dirve flashed and no way to burn my games.

I am not big on shopping on e-bay since i have had several freinds get burned pretty bad a couple of times.

That aside which program do you guys like better xbox backup creator or schtrom? Thanks in advance.

if your elite drive was a benq then you simply had to flash the 0800 firmware to it to rip games. if you got a system with a lite-on in it you cant use that drive to rip your games.

Well in my new box I do have a benq and I am having all sorts of fits getting into mode b. But I have read somewhere you don't have to have it in mode b but you have to use dos flash. The thing is I cannot get it to show in windows. Is there something special I have to do to get to show up or do I have to use slax 2.1?

you have to unlock it. use jungleflasher, it does everything for you.

Well if it doesn't show up in windows how is jungle flasher going to see it. It needs to show up in windows doesn't it? Anyways that is my problem. If anyone has ideas I am listening.

It blows me away with all of the tutorials that you can do exactly what they say and still get no results. I have used dosflash32 and it even sees my drive and tells me what it is but it fails everytime I try to unlock it. Jungleflasher doesn't see my drive. The drive is brand new so I know its not it. I see it in dos but when windows boots up it is nowhere to be found. I guess that guy who you were lucky if you have a benq is full of crap. My Hitachi79 drive was far easier then this. I am up for any suggestions but I have ran out of patience.

try the pic again, i would be willing to bet you think you have a benq and its really a lite-on. they look the exact same except one drive says "Phillips Benq" and the other says "Phillips Lite-on" and its not in big text either its really small.

My drive says on the top of it Phillips and Benq digital storage corporation. My model number is PBDS VAD6038. I am going to mess with it a little later but does anyone have any tutorials that they used to get this drive flashed. I have tried several but the ones I can find all have to do with using dos and a usb thumbdrive.

Thanks ahead of time

epic quad post you had earlier.

use dosflash32 or jungleflasher. if you have the right chipset you are fine, it should work without a hitch.

Yeah sorry to everyone who had to deal with the quad post I was tired and pissed off. Well I finally found a tutorial that said you have to unplug the drive from the motherboard and not the back of the powersupply. If only people would include everything in there tutorials i would have had this done in 10 minutes because it unlock in the first try. Thanks to everyones input and for putting up with my 4 post rant.

Ok I have successfully flashed the drive with the benq0800 and I have played a backup of streetfighter that i had downloaded when I could not get my copy to rip. My problem now is I cannot get it to be recognized by any of the ripping programs such as Xbox Backup Creator, and Schtrom. Should Windows recognize the drive or will it be like the rest of the programs and just see it on the sata port location. Also is there a specific way I need the drive to be in for me to be able to rip my games or can I just take it out of my xbox and hook it up to my comp via sata and the power from my box. Any help is appreciated.

You need to do what everyone said to do in the first place and get a kreon drive.

If I'm reading this post correctly, you effectively wasted $200
