Hello,

I have a copy of halo 3 but It got a really deep scratch along the outer rim of the disk now I cannot play any level past floodgate on legendary. I was attempting to rip the game on my xbox 360's hard drive but it would say it couldn't be read around 68% ripped. Now I was wondering if i borrowed my friends copy of the game and ripped that onto the hard drive, would I still be able to go online with the game even though the copy is not mine, or would both of us be banned on XBL considering technically we would be using the same copy of the game, even if i own the game?

Thanks in advance

all discs are the same so there is no way for them to tell who owns a disc. it isnt like PC gaming where u use a cd key to install and u can use the "same copy" as someone else.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

Are you really able to do that? Even if you read the game off the HD, you still have to have the original disc in the 360's dvd drive no?

cross your fingers that it doesnt happen, but that would be the smartest thing microsoft could ever do!

i doubt they would as it would kill the video game rental industry......

i agree it would harm more of their business model than anything. but with digital distribution on the way the rental business will have to take a hit at some point. who knows maybe some day it will be like movies where u rent it for so long and thats it, a single serving game if you will....digital rentals. I see piracy then as becomming good for only offline gameplay.
