Hi everyone. I am new to soft modding so please bare with me if these questions sound well, like something a newbie would ask :-) By the way, I don't have a mod chip yet installed, it's coming in another week
Here goes..I soft modded my Firmware 3.4 USA Wii yesterday, everything went great. I have the Homebrew Channel and the Backup Launcher on my Wii. When I play a backup game it plays fine in Launcher, but then when I go back to the HOME screen and I see the Disc Channel I notice that there is a disc in there but it doesn't say the name of the game, do I click on the Disc Channel for the game to appear?
Secondly, I have some games that I plan on burning, I have WiU 1.1 and every iso game it shows that it is region USA..do I still have to use the brickblocker program to remove the Update or is that not necessary? I have removed the updates of most of the games that I have but a few I have not done yet so I want to know if its not necessary to do that, I don't want any brick to happen
Finally, my Mod Chip is coming soon, since I did the soft Mod first, then the mod chip install, will that cause any conflict. Thanks again, hope I didn't ask TOO many questions

The reason you see a disk in the disk channel but no game is because the backup launcher cannot launch games from the disk channel, so the disk channel wii sees a disk in the drive but cant read it. Just launch the disk from the wiigator channel (if you installed it) or through wiigator in the homebrew channel, both are fine.

If you have a US console and all US games then you dont need to brickblock. Its easier in fact if you dont, because some games like animal crossing or wii fit have patches included with them that are necessary to play. You can manually rip them out of the game and install them through the homebrew channel, but if the games match the console theres really no reason to go through the effort.

And modchips and softmods have nothing to do with each other. You can have both on your wii just fine. The only difference is that with a chip you'll be able to launch games directly from the disk channel and they'll load at full speed.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. Now I understand how come I can't see the name of the game from the Disc Channel, once I get the Mod Chip I will be able to see the name of the game..awesome!! When I open up the games that I have using WiU 1.1 it all says Region USA so I guess it if says Region USA then it means Region USA but then it will say under update in red letters "Warning update" so I don't have to remove the update, or is it that WiU 1.1 is kinda old and it always notices an update..I have that Launcher program on my Wii(The application that has two discs) I think its called Backup Launcher, is that the same as WiiGator or is it something different? Is it OK that I have firmware 3.4 because some have told me to downgrade to 3.2 but Ive seen how it's done and it just looks too difficult, plus 3.4 looks fine to me. So once I get the Mod Chip installed, I will be able to load the game disc directly from the Disc Channel and I will be able to see the name of the game appear, I can basically use either one, disc channel or backup launcher, or wiigator, either one. Thanks again!!

Yes, WiiGator is the backup launcher.

If you're planning on using the Wii just for playing backup, and you're brick-blocking all the games that you use, then you're safe with firmware 3.4. If you plan to customize your Wii, and/or install lots of wads, then it's much safer to downgrade to 3.2 and install something like Starfall or Preloader to help you recover, if you ever brick your Wii (resulting from a bad wad for example).
