I have this mobo.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359

I have an old IDE HDD.
I notice that the interface says PATA - 1 x ATA100 2 Dev. Max
How do I confirm that if a IDE HDD can be applied to that?

I was planing already to get a 1Tb HDD, but I wanted to use my old IDE HDD as a slave or for more storage.

I have some other IDE drives(dvd rom) that I wanted to use. Can this happen?

PATA = IDE

PATA is the more correct name for the IDE interface.

ATAPI optical devices are IDE and will work on the PATA interface.

There is only one PATA interface on this motherbaord, with a max. capacity of 2 IDE devices, whether HDD or optical.

Thanks, I am thinking of adding my IDE HDD and a DVD burner that is IDE as well to complete the max cap of 2.

Then I will use a 1Tb HDD sata and other roms that are sata as well.

Be advised that if you ever use the IDE drives (CD and HDD) concurrently, for instance, ripping to that drive from a CD, or burning an iso from that HDD, you will experience severe performance losses as they share the same cable.

Well, if you're desperate to keep using that drive and want top performance (you won't notice anything unless they're used heavily together at the same time), either USB it or buy a PCI IDE card for like 20 dollars - haha yeah, like that.

Hum....if the card cost $20, then I'm better off getting a LG SATA burner.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136149

Just spend 2 more bucks as I would of with the card.
Maybe I can sell my IDE dvd rom?....for like $10 on ebay. =]
Thanks anyways Xplorer and Sammi.

You are better off getting an LG burner anyway...they are a great value...especialy if you are needing lots of optical drives at once.
