Hi all, i have a US wii on 2.2u fw. From there i installed HBC and gecko channel using TH. Everything worked well but as my tv is the old type, it displayed no color on games.

I then installed Anyregion changer and changed the type to PAL instead of NTSC. Now my menu has color and i could run pal games no problem.

i then upgraded the fw to 3.4U which my brother accidentally deleted off HBC and gecko (he plays original games that's y :( ). Now i am left with a US Wii on PAL mode. I tried running Twilight (NTSC), problem is wii can detect the game but it doesnt play (not even the warning strap screen!)

I bought Twilight (PAL) ver to try salvage the situation but wii doesnt even detect it!

I tried playing several original games and only a few worked. I am really at my wits end and am thinking of buying a new set instead. Will installing Wiikey of any sort work?

I cant blame my brother as he is only 6yrs old. Really hope anyone can provide any kind of help.

Thanks all.

I'm confused, you changed the region to PAL then updated it to 3.4U? That shouldnt be possible. If you changed the region and updated it would change to 3.4E. Also if you really changed the region then US twilight princess would not show up in the disk channel at all.

Not much chance of that without a homebrew channel or twilight hack. I'm trying to figure out what region his wii is, since thats somewhat important.

Hi penguine98, thnks for your reply. Yup i used Anyregion changer to change the region to PAL mode instead of NTSC. I am not sure why Twilight NTSC still shows on the channel but thing is it cant even start.

thus now i am unable to either make use of TH coz HBC and gecko has been deleted. I dun think i can downgrade as well. (Thnks solidmeta).

Hey penguin, is there a way where he could reset the system to it's original state, so he could just reinstall everything?

Hi guys, almost forgot, in Anyregion changer, i used the setting USA for area and game, PAL for video settings.

And yes, i upgraded wii from 2.2 to 3.4U. Am not sure why its U nt E. I tried doing update of firmware quite a few times already and still cant figure out whats wrong now... :(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well THERE's your problem. You didnt change the region, just the output settings. You have the console on US firmware but with PAL video output. That means that PAL games cannot boot without homebrew help and most NTSC games will display as a black screen without something making them compatible with PAL output. And zelda happens to have a huge problem with that.

The only possible fix I can think of is installing a modchip to let you boot a pal game and using pal twilight princess to reinstall the homebrew channel.

Hi solidmeta, yes in wii sys settings its stated 3.4U. does that means its usa? Will Wiikey solve my problem since i heard it can change back region and stuffs? i dun mind doing that since its still cheaper than getting a new set... but am still open to more options possible! Thnks : |

Hi penguine, thnks for your speedy reply! Really appreciated it. Guess i have to opt for hard mod then.

Is there no other way for a hardreset or to send it to Nintendo to reset it for me?

Hmmm at least i have learnt something new today. Thnks alot guys, this is really a gd forum. ;)

A modchip cant change a consoles region, but it will let you boot a PAL copy of zelda on your US console. I would advise FULLY changing the region to PAL and only playing PAL games from now on. Just trust me, its a lot simpler and will help avoid problems like this.

Nintendo might be able to fix it, and if its still under warranty they probably will if they can.

Also, make sure that a wiikey will work with your wii. Enter your wii's serial number here http://www.wiidrives.com/list to see what chipset you have and what modchips will support it.

Hi Penguine, you are really a great help. Thnks for all the info man. I think am quite dumb to have done that. But well, its my first attempt at this...

Anyway am most probably gonna upgrade my tv soon so i guess am safe to remain on ntsc instead of pal? E reason u asked me to stay on pal is bcoz of my old tv right?

I'll have to source for shop that can help me out with this issue. Was thinking to request them to solder wiikey on and do the softmod and desolder e chip off thus = softmod only. :P gonna save some $ man. Will try will try.

Thnks a bunch ppl. I nearly lost every strand of my hair over this as my brother keeps bugging me to fix it... (tsk tsk... hey, who deleted hbc in e first place... )

Thnks guys once again. ;)

Its always best if everything matches. If you have a US TV then you want an NTSC console and to play NTSC-U games with NTSC video output. If you have a PAL TV then you want a PAL console and to play PAL games.

I said to switch it to PAL because I though that you were in Europe, looking back, I see that you never actually said that and I just assumed it because you had switched your console to PAL output. If I assumed wrong then I'm sorry and you're right in that you should have everything NTSC. If you are in Europe then everything should be PAL.

Hi penguine, no need to apologize dude. You have helped me alot already. Anyway i am based in SG and the tv was given to me by my frend (no wonder he gave it off since its only reading pal mode :P)

Solidmeta, i highly doubt theres any hardreset other than at Nintendo factory. I guess i have to try doing it at shops with mod chips method. thnks for your input as well!

try going into systems option, look for format wii system memory
that should wipe all data from wii's internal memory, not sure if it's a complete factory reset. maybe worth a try?

No, formatting the system memory only deletes your save games, channels and mii's. It will do nothing to firmware or settings you've tinkered with.
