Just plugged in my Starview 4 box for the first time, following the instructions I found on here (Thanks) When flicking through the channels, I got to channel 510 & it had a page saying (along the lines of) Warning, you are using an illegal box, You are commiting a criminal offence etc. Should I be worried. I still get my TV from virgin, is there any way they know I am using a "dodgy" box, or does this come up all the time. I've heard stories that they send a signal down the cable & the virgin box is supposed to send back a reply, but I was told if I fit a splitter & run both boxes it will be ok, or are these just rumours.

stuwho - Don't be worrying about that warning message, it is an old trick they use, as said just delete or simply ignore, as regards the splitter and talkback feature, yes it is true that your subbed VM box does have a talkback facility, but it can only give info on the VM box only and not your other box, which does not have a talkback for obvious reasons. So yes it is better to use a plitter wherever possible, so has to leave the subbed VM box to do it's work so to speak.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I'm just a wee bit paranoid. It's the first box I've had.
Cheers

you usually get 2 pages with the warnings....one is on the sports section, and the other is on the indian movies section...they have been on for last 4 months or so...just delete..go to channels edit in menu,0000,goto channels that you wish to delete, pres blue button and then ok twice to delete...regards

malci, is it ok just to have the subbed box left on standby? or does it need to be on?

its better to want something and not have it,
then to have it and not want it...

Just leave it on standby mate, it is not a problem, occasionally turn it on now and again if you wish.
