Now, I'm not huge on PC gaming (I'm actually quite the PC noob), but there are a few titles out that I would like to play--Fallout 3, Crysis, etc. However, I'm mainly looking into a gaming PC for one reason: Diablo III.

Of course, no one knows the requirements yet, but it is assumed it will be easy on hardware as it is made by Blizzard. I'm just curious what a few good builds are that could run the games listed above (excluding Diablo, obviously) on a modest budget--lets say $600-800, including an OK monitor, nothing fancy.

While I can almost guarantee someone here will be able to list a nice build for me, I'm also curious how these would be for present and future gamiing:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...8269&CatId=2628

Or...

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...6260&CatId=2628

I've been told the second model will play pretty much anything out on High or decent settings, but wanted a few more opinions--and if I can save $100 and get the cheaper model (or use the extra $ toward a monitor), I'd rather do that.

Thanks for any help!

there both nice computers but u could save more by building one ur self.

i cant pick 1 thats better probly the one with 6gb RAM but its 64 bit and some apps may have trubble running.

if u build a ur own PC u can get every feature u want.

just my 2cents

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Thanks for the builds! But, being the noob that I am, which rig is the better overall performer? What games can I run, and at which settings? Basically I'm looking at longevity as well as functionality. Thanks for the quick responses though, very helpful!

Ok, I moved some things around and cut/added in some areas to the list to get the price down, but keep most of the efficiency. How would this build work?

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=9223545&guid=42936704cf01429a8c5b14515661125b

I also need help with the OS. I would assume Vista 64bit is the way to go--but where is the cheapest to get it?

You need to make your wishlist public for other people to view it. Currently only your newegg account can access that list.

I'm sorry! Didn't even realize this! Ok, here is the shared list--and also, I want to note that since I knocked nearly $200 off the total, feel free to upgrade some parts to make it more efficient. The HDD is large enough for me, however, so no need to add a larger one:

I have it set as "Shared", am I not doing something correctly?

EDIT: It is set to public, but I've read that it takes up to 24 hours to actually be visible.

I'm not american so I can't have a newegg account, but I think there's a way of setting it to be public.

Looks like a good list, but I'd recommend this hard drive instead:

Ok, I swapped out the HDD for the one you recommended. Any suggestions for a better GPU--and if necessary, other componenets? I'm looking to run pretty much anything out right now as high as possible, and hopefully for a while into the future.

EDIT: I was also curious, which GPU would be preferred:

or..

EDIT2: Ok, I've looked into a second build which may or may not be better--let me know (I also still need a MOBO and CPU, so give some suggestions please!):

The HD4850 is a better card, by a significant margin. Better still though, is one of these:

Looks good, thanks for the tip. How about a MOBO and CPU, then I think I'll be just about ready, correct? Also, will the Power Supply I have selected be enough as of now?

Thanks for the MOBO, but the CPU may put me just a bit over my limit. I may still use it, but I'll do some research first.

Well, it's a dual core. Fine for most games, but for the most demanding ones, a Quad will be more futureproof.

Well, here's the build so far. Please let me know if anything can be changed for better performance, but sticking around the same price!

It's reasonable, but there's little point going high end with a very small monitor, you should really alter your budget so you can get a 20" monitor with a much better resolution.

Unfortunately, I'm already over budget--after shipping and taxes, well over (about $200 more than I expected). So, if anyone could look over what I have so far, and let me know if there is anything that will keep performance but cost a bit less, please let me know!
