Help getting Hitachi 47DH into mode b

Hi all,

As the title says I need help getting a Hitachi DvD drive into Mode B using the Slax CD.

I have followed textbooks 2008 guide. I have tried all three versions of slax on xbins.

I have the pci card with the via chipset that I used to flash my Samsung.

I have both the xbox and PC turned off. I boot both PC and Xbox at the same time (have even tried xbox at differnt times).I have the xbox hooked to the pci via card. The slax CD gets to the login promt where it ask you to enter login and pw. However I never get the spinning disk message everyone on the forums talks about.

been awhile since i used slax, refresh my memory dont you have to long in or push some sort of button before you get the disc spinning up message? other than that soulds like your connections are rigt.

Older Hitachis (drives before 0078) won't go into mode with VIA cards. Get any USB SATA connector and you'll be fine.

i am sorry memnock, i just flashed a 47dj and i got into mode b with slax and my via 6421 card, i find the best method is to turn on pc, then xbox a few seconds later, then when it says spinning up disc, just push eject and the 3 times to keep the tray closed. also make sure you have slax 2.1, much better compatibility. i also have a ck3 but from time to time i like using different methods to stay on top of the game, haha

The problem is I can't get it to say Spinning up Disk. Is there anything that you can think of that I am not doing? I listed the steps. Still getting the Usb Sata Connector though. But if it can be done without I'm taking this as a personal challange

Problem solved. I pulled out my Via Sata card and tried to flash from the Mobo. Went to spinning disk right away and put it in mode b. The Hitachi drive is now flashed.
