I just thought I'd point this out to anyone using a modded chip to connect to XBlive even with it disabled

Quote:
Xbox Live is now checking each Xbox to see if the hard drive has been replaced. If your hard drive is any different than the one it came with, you will be banned, even if your new hard drive is locked.
My advice is if your running a modded chip don't connect to XBlive untill tis is resolved

Please edit this post. This says nothing about having a modchip but rather changing the hard drive to a different one. It also doesn't say that people have definitely been banned yet...though I wouldn't try it. If you have a different hard drive other than the original one in your Xbox then I would read carefully.

ummm.
#1 the only way to change your hard drive is to have a mod chip installed and run the HDD app on the slayers CD..that will only run off a xbox with the right bios running a chip.
#2 the quote from the post on xbox-scene clearly states the hard drive issue.
#3 I'm later giving advice as to how to handle the situation,

Given those clear 3 points why should I edit my post? if you can't read post in its entirety with the accompanied link then thats your fault isn't?

sounds to me like a marketing ploy by the smartxx chip makers.

I don't but it.

yeah might be because other modchip companies havent said anything about this i.e. executer... i don;t know, but it also might be true. just gotta wait until someone comes on the forum and says they got banned or something.

i read somewhere that microsoft is, gathering data on the hard drives in the xboxes and that it was confirmed, but i still haven't heard anything about banning.
