This is just another I have a 40 GB ps3 and as i was playing a game the system froze. I could not get the system to restart so i manually restarted it only to find out that my discs wouldn't load. I called Sony and after being screwed around with sending me the box a few times i got fed up and tore the ps3 apart. I realized that the laser works like it should, moves to the front bounces up 2 or 3 times while the blue light flashes a few times. The problem is that no matter what i try the black motor that holds the disc will not spin. I think the laser is fine but i don't know what would cause the motor to stop working. I read something about the ic chip controlling the motor but hoping that is not the problem do to me wanting to fix it myself and from what i hear that is not an easy job. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
