I used XtremeBootMaker to format my USB drive to boot from but then I found out my motherboard (MSI MS-7252) doesn't support booting from a USB drive. So I want to make a CD to boot from but I can't quite figure it out. I switched to using iPrep because I heard that it was a better program (more up to date I guess?). I'm using iPrep 008.8 and Samsung iXtreme 1.5 stealth firmware and I have a couple of questions.

1. I'm not sure that there is any benefit to using the stealth firmware since I don't play on Xbox live ever but is there any disadvantage to using it? I can't seem to find a non-stealth version of it that works. I have other iXtreme firmware but when I attempt to load it iPrep tells me it isn't valid.

2. I'm not actually sure how to create a bootable CD to flash my Xbox 360. I tried following the Textbook 2008 guide in the stickies but the version of iPrep is much older and the GUI does not look similar at all. My DVD drive is connected with an IDE cable so I'm assuming I should switch iPrep to IDE based but then I don't really know which option to choose there.

Once I complete the process with iPrep what do I do with it? In the guide it said to burn NTFSDos.iso (Does roughly 2.3 MB sound about right for this?) but do I need to burn it in any special way? And what do I do with the folder created by iPrep?

You can flash your drive through Windows with Jungle Flasher. All you need is a compatible SATA chipset, the PortIO32 driver, and the iXtreme firmware. Right when Jungle Flasher starts up, it provides an excellent tutorial that will guide you to victory.

this is much easier than making your own disc and it doesnt require much expertise just download the iso and burn it with nero or imgburn whatever straight to a cd. find out the port number of your sata card and then boot to disc and follow intructions. these are basic steps i have listed so it is best if you read the readme instructions for it. but it is really easy. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/746699

this disc has the NTFS4dos built in and the 1.5 fw files also and it works with any type drive. except hitachi cause we dont have 1.5

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

Thanks a lot guys for the quick responses! I think I'm going to try the JungleFlasher method first because it sounds the easiest. I need to finish some homework but hopefully I will have a chance in a couple hours to give this a shot. I will definitely post again once I get a chance to try it :).

I didn't have any luck with Jungle Flasher yet. The Xbox 360 drive is not being detected at all. I connected the Samsung drive to my onboard SATA controller, turned on the xbox, and ran JungleFlasher. I went to the MTK Flash 32 tab and there was only one I/O port listed. It says there is no drive detected however. Perhaps my onboard SATA controller isn't compatible. I do have an nForce board which I've heard may not work with the Xbox 360 drives. If I get my homework done soon enough I will see if I can't get into the engineering labs on campus and hook it up there without getting yelled at.

*Edit*
It looks like my Xbox 360 drive is being detected by my BIOS. There was a TS-H943A drive detected in there which according to a google search seems to be my 360 drive. I will try the 360 modification ISO and see if that works out any better.

*Edit #2*
I tried using the 360 modification ISO but it still didn't see the Xbox 360 drive. I wasn't sure what to enter when it asked for the VT6421 port though. I don't have this SATA controller and I don't know what I would enter for my onboard controller. Tomorrow I will check the engineering labs to see what they have for a SATA controller.

I think I successfully flashed the drive :). I figured out how to get my motherboard to boot from my USB drive. Then I just used iPrep to setup my flash drive. From there I followed the Textbook and everything worked out. I don't have any backed up games to test it with yet though but it said everything was successful. Using JungleFlasher and the Xbox 360 Modification CD I was unable to find the Xbox 360 drive. Thanks for all your help guys :).

the guides for the mod disc tells how to find the sata port. go to my computer then hardware tab then device manager then scroll down to Raid and scsi controllers. your sata card is listed here, right click the sata go to properties and then u see the port is listed as the very first listing in the I/O range which should be something like DF00 - df0f but we only are concerned with the first part before the -so in this case it is DF00

if it plays retail discs then odds are it was a good flash cause a bad flash typically means you screwed the key up and in that case nothing would play except maybe movies from dvd.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

I don't see any I/O range or anything that looks like the port example you gave me. However it will boot up my original games so I guess that is a good sign. :) Thanks again for all the guidance.
