Planning on soft modding my PS2 and have a question

Do I just need to buy an AR Max, and burn software on a cd, and use a flash drive to get it to work? And is the flash drive needed? I have a SanDisk Micro Cruzer, and I also have a SPI Digital Audio Player. Would either of those work with the exploit? If not, what's the cheapest flash drive I can buy that's commonly sold? I have about $100 to buy all the stuff I need, and I don't normally buy stuff online, so Swap Magic is probably out, and the farthest I'll go to physically modding my PS2 is ripping off the front tray cover, so I won't be installing an external drive, because I'm squeamish when it comes to stuff like that, and I'm not sure if computer stores would help install a hard drive to a PS2 (mostly because a PS2 is different from a computer I guess).

Well the armax that you need is very hard to find.
It has to be the one with media player and yes you would need the flash drive.
For just the cost of postage and of course your memory card, you could have someone install fmcb 1.8 for you.

AR max pro is easily available on net.you need 2 burn on to a cd at low speed. many options are available when u boot it frm ur ps2. scroll the menu and all the setting will be saved in memory card. you can also transfer your data b/w ur memory card and usb drive.

He doesn't have his PS2 modded yet, so how is he going to use a backup of armax?

Can someone tell me if this is the AR Max I need? I'm pretty sure, but just want to check with someone in the know before I go and waste my money. I have the means to buy it, I just need to wait a few days.

It sure looks like the right one. It doesn't say includes media player, so not sure.
