I recently purchased a PC : Intel P4 2.8 fsb800,MSI BRD o snd,vga etc. Sony DVD-RW 5DRU530, RAM256DDR400,80g HDD,WinXP pro

my knowledge about dvd software is limited. although i've been advised to use nero 6 ultra edition, which i have but can't seem understand the software fully.
i wish to pose a question to the forum : which software is best to decryt DVDs and easiest to use. there are so many out there.

i tried using DVD shrink 3.17b but when i shrink the movie i seem to lose quality.

could you pls advise me or lead me to the DVD "light".

why not try them all and then you will definitely know one way or another which one will suit you.I dont mind shrink but of late i really liked 321 studios dvdx copy series until clone dvd2 (sneak peek ver) superseeded it.This is really the easiest program to use a couple of clicks of the mouse and it does it for you, the settings are easy to understand. The guides section will give you the info you require.

That's the way it is unless you want to use 2 discs.

DVD Decrypter is a good ripper and if you want to try for slightly better quality try the trials of InstantCopy 8 or InterVideo DVD Copy, but they both cost and need Decryter first.

Hi DVD_DAN
I use DVDDecypter to decrypt to HD> then in DVDShrink I find the file on the C: drive and click on that. It then does a quick analysis. After that if I only want the Movie I go to re-author and slide them main movie to the left side. I then remove any audio or subtitles that I do not want. At the top you will see the green slider. I slightly move the slider to the left so I see 1/8" of gray. Then I click backup and under preferences I click use Nero to burn. Click go and go have a cup of coffee.
I have not noticed any de-grading of the movie between the original and the backup.

If you haven't done so already, using the Deep Analysis feature in Shrink helps picture quality as well as doing a "movie only" copy for the large films since stripping out the exras leaves more room for the main film and therefore less compression that has to be done.

Mr. DVD_DAN,

You have already told us you have Nero. Nero has a great program that you?ve already spent your money on, it?s called recode 2 - read the guide, play with it - all you need to go from soup to nuts is a program called DVD Decrypter. Read this sentence and remember it - Open Decrypter, pick your DVD as a source, make a file on your desktop as your destination and choose ?File? as your mode when it?s done use recode 2 and retrieve your files from the desktop folder. Read the guides for your program and enjoy your first backup DVD :D)

As I'm sure even you understand - the answers here mean mostly nothing to you, and they shouldn't !

Re-author, green slider, quick analysis, decrypt, Deep Analysis, InstantCopy 8 - sounds like a code even to me. lol

The answer to your question is - there is no answer until you try something -

Download this or anything at all but download something - read the guide for it and play with it - Why do you think there are so many different programs, because there are different tastes in which are the best programs -

Welcome to the Club DVD_DAN, come on back when your feet are wet, not to worry, it won?t be long -

See ya then,

The program AnyDVD runs "Behind the scenes and removes CD & DVD copyrights and regions -
costs about $40.00 ;-(
I believe that DVD43 will do it too, and that one is Free :-)
