I was looking around on the gamestop website and the 80 gig ps3 with the 2 usb ports say thats its not backwards compatible while the one with the 4 usb ports doesnt say anything if its backwards compat or not
i was wondering if all 80 gigs are backwards compat thru software updates or just a few select ones .. thank you

The only 2 80 GB PS3 that's backwards compatible with both PS1 and PS2 games were the ones bundled with Motostorm and Metal Gear Solid 4. When I say bundled I mean the game is packaged in the PS3 and the box itself has the graphic of the game. These are obviously no longer available and have 4 usb ports.

Also the backwards compatible 80GB PS3 have chrome the better looking chrome trim while the other have silver paint.

the motorsotrm bundle ps3 has backwards, and 80 gig hdd, and has chrome and card raders, i couldnt find one cheap so i ended up buying the new 80 gig :( , still good just wish for the card raders and chrome atleast
