Hi im planning to use the zelda hack to install the Homebrew channel onto my wii. I have system firmware 3.1 or there abouts and i have the correct version of the zelda hack. I just wondered if I can upgrade my system firmware after I install the homebrew channel or is that a no no.
I only ask as im planning to play some games that may require a firmware update its been over a year since I used the wii and i was suprised it still worked LOL
All help is gratefully appreciated thx.
Sorry if this is covered else where in the forums im new(no excuse i know)

While this is asked EVERY SINGLE DAY there are still people who give the wrong answer so I understand your confusion.

No upgrade to date has effected the homebrew channel at all. Some recent updates have caused problems for some specific homebrew programs but they can be easily fixed by installing a minor patch.

The backup launcher is not effected, however INSTALLING it is blocked without a patch.

Guide here will talk you through installing HBC, backup launcher and preparing the wii for installing if you're on 3.4. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325

Its easier to install it on 3.1 because then you dont have to do the wii fix.

And the cIOS is installed once, then you're done with it.
