If the original game and the backup are the same region then you don't need to do anything, the wii will read them as the same game.
If the backup is a different region as the original then you cant load the old save. You'll have to either restart or redownload the game from the proper region.
By the way i modded my wii with homebrew, and you dont need any spesfic lgdvd bruner to back up wii games with hombrew; if your wii is connected to the internet you your computer hooks links into the isp that the wii gives you, so any dvd burner will work guys...here is the directions take directly from home brew...
of course you will need the link you will have to ask homebrew for that....
To install it, follow these directions:
1. Unpack the file called "Wii DVD Dumper 0317022.zip" using WinRAR or WinZIP.
2. Take the unpacked "Wii DVD Dumper 0317022" file and open it up.
3. You should see three files in there. Take the "boot.dol" file and
put it in the root folder of your SD card.
4. Create a folder in the "apps" folder on your SD card, call it what
you like, eg: "wiidumper". Take the remaining two files and place them
into this folder.
5. Remove your SD card from your PC and place it into your Wii.
6. Go to to Homebrew channel and select Wii DVD Dumper.
7. Select "Wifi Network Backup" by pressing left and right on the
controller on the first screen.
8. Select the game type - usually "Wii Single Layer"
9. On your PC or Laptop , open Firefox (Internet Explorer may give
errors) and type in the link the Wii gives you.
10. Wait 2-5 hours (often much longer!) and you will have an ISO file
for yourself! Burn this file to disc using Imageburn, you can find
their product here: http://www.imgburn.com Only burn at 2x or 3x
speed, use only DVD-R and very high quality (Sony, Verbatim etc.).
