Ok, so I've had a 360 with samsung drive with 1.2c that has worked fine since 07. it started having problems booting, loading discs, screen crashes and then would get the 3 red lights unless I press the little button beside the memory card slots. I tried unplugging the VA cable etc, so I said uh oh. I then plugged in my backup console samsung, with 1.4 that has basically never been used. I Get the SAME THING HAPPENING!. No way, this is a coincidence, so I buy a gamestop universal VGA adaptor thinking it is a cord issue and I get no results. So I'm at a loss. How could this happen to both consoles at once? could anything(hard drive, power brick, friggin tv,updating to NXE from disc) be shorting out the console and causing this? The consoles now work periodically, for a while. they only work with some discs and after a period of time the screen freezes, I don't get an outright RROD, but just freezing and if I don't hit the small button upon turning on the console, I then get RROD. Please help!
I had a guy that had the same issue. I opened it up and there was allot of dust and crap in it. So I cleaned it out good (FAN/HEAT SINK) and he hasn't had issues since.
So I would first check for dust and make sure you clean it good so it doesn't overheat.

just make sure you dont do it again. too many times and you will fry it, and the amount of time it will continue working will become less and less. until it is just RROD no matter what.
