So, N3 is here...Eircom blocking downloads and sending out threatening letters to customers, and Piratebay soon to follow with a court case, probably.
Big brother won in the end....although I guess we could PAY for what we want...maybe Chartbusters would still be here if we didn't download so much, me included!!!

Thanks Fergus and Scouser for the information relating to this. Will have to see if there are any new tricks with Sky now!!
They took away MUTV and the porn channels first, they must not like wankers!!!
Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

If you read that full thread, you will see that it is only rumour (maybe even a false rumour!) posted by SuzeQ firstly on a website back in October.
There is going to be a lot of BS posted regarding this issue so brace yourselves!!!
Maybe Scouser or Fergus could post an explanation of what is happening and get it stickied as the forum is going to be flooded with posts over the next few weeks, and when they start in the UK the site will probably collapse!!

good idea SG8.. a sticky at the top of the page maybe to explain whats going on will stop posts popping up all over the place..just want to say a big thanks to whoever helped out with these boxes over the last while.. a lot of people would of been lost without ye.

These channels have now moved to N3 so it wont matter how many times you scan your box you will not get them back and its only a matter of time before more move up the tree and at the present time there does not look like there is likely to be a fix for a while to come so enjoy what you have for the moment

No worries but if you check back in this very thread I did say N2 is also present. 1800 is gone but 1802 AND 1801 are still present, so where is the current EMM coming from?
The first set of cards released have now obviously changed their ROM revision since :)

hi peeps.
Well in the UK we are fine ATM lol!
Seems they are targeting Ireland due to there being a lot less people i guess so if the powers that be do come up with a solution then they've not lost so much money. If that happens it may never get to the UK. *prays*
and to be honest all those channels that have "moved" are channels that i dont watch. and im sure (other than the footie ones) arnt the others just toot lol!
sorry guys to upsets yas but you seem to be getting upset about adult channels in particular lol! - Footie maybe i can understand you's getting upset.as a woman im not tv fan lol! but hubby is a footie fan.
But lets face it IF we all do loose out on everything nothing much we can do other than 1 of 2 things either pay up and go back to Service provider and pay a fortune (which is what they expect us to do) or Sit tight and WAIT and ride out the storm how ever long it takes.
But as they say " if ya can make it sum1 can fake it" lol!

You have to realize that Virgin and UPC are 2 different cable company in 2 different country, UPC have decided to combat Cable fraud but Virgin have not yet.
Its not cause Ireland is smaller and there Testing it before in Ireland 1st.
There not working together on this one.
There not related, they may have 2 totally different ideas.

I think you could possibly be wrong on this one as if you remember back in December 08 when we where down for a bit they had implemented a new key roll method in the Uk in November which followed here in December so although they are 2 different providers they are both trying to combat piracy so if it is successful here they will get it in the Uk as well the Uk is a much bigger effort to try and tackle first so easier to target here first then if it works they will implement it to be sure in the Uk but just sit back and wait and see what comes all right ya might lose your viewing for a while but what the heck if ya get it back is it not worth the wait ??

It UPC about a month before they changed the keyroll method, and that would be done by nagravison coders and sent onto the CC`s.
Which was useless as it had already been fixed in the uk, making you think that they went working together at all.
I am sure Virgin will be keeping a close look on what happens, but UPC are a large European CC and ISP, im sure they b ringing Ireland up to the standard they have across Europe.

Try the smaller area 1st if they dont succeed no point in bothering with a total waste of money for the UK market if they haveto make new products its willcost a lot more, if they have to re train engineers it will cost more, if they have to send engineers out to EVERY PAYING customer it will cost more, so may not actually be affective.
At the moment its trial and error and cheaper to spend a few pennies in a smaller area 1st. that try the UK market and fail.
as said sit back and wait to see what transpires. All this speculation gets ya no where other than wound up lol!

I think the point ferg is trying to get aross is that the Irish and UK providers have discussed this problem and how to tackle it.They have to be working together on this one.
As for a fix on N3 I think the powers that be have a battle on their hands and the box manufacturers will hold back until there is a definite fix.Then they will release a new box and make a fortune on us!!

is there a new digital provider due in ireland soon, will they be competition for upc causing price war, as upc prices were the reason i looked elsewhere in the first place,

Boxer DTT are ment to be launching there DTT service, which was ment to be launched by Feb 09 but now looks like late 09.
