converting .vob to avi

so i just took the secion out of the movie i wanted. now it's still in .vob format and in order to edit it i need it to be in avi. is there a program that will convert it from .vob to avi? or a process. if so please help, thanks!

U can use XMPEG @ http://www.mp3guest.com/Xmpeg_Index.asp?l=US Works well.

When u start it the first thing is going to give you is a Wizard hit next then just <browse...> select ur vob file.Next Select what audio/sub if any that u want to be encoded.Next Select DVD or Divx then it will start to encode....U can mess around with the setting to get it the way u want it...Enjoy

IF u want to get the highest quality before editing U might want to save it out as MPEG-2 and not AVI....IF so at the last screen select bbMPEG Encoder ->(Configure) then "Video Stream Settings" tab Select MPEG-2.
