Hi, what are some of the advantages of firmware modding against mad chips and which would you suggest? thanxs

firmware and chipping both require the 360 to be taken apart.
But firmware does not require any new hardware to be added, only for the dvd drives firmware to be moddified. so that means the code in the dvd drive is just be changed basically.

So a chip requires soldering and more advanced installation over a firmware flash. so chipping is higher risk for damaging the 360.

Both will allow you to play backups. a chip usually doesnt have to be upgraded with new changes. but firmware might need to be updated periodically which requires the same process as the first time it was done.

Firmware you can probably do yourself and if you already have the required pc you might not have to spend any money, the most your would have to purchase is a sata card usually. A chip can cost 50-100 and then installation can cost more so total cost could be 60-120 sometimes depending. some chips will let you play diff regions i thin k but most games are region free nowadays or available in your region code. unless you really enjoy playing japanese only games then it isnt worth it usually.

Firmware= safer and cheaper most of the time.
