You may need a specific Via card if you are attempting to flash your drive.

Depends, your onboard SATA might be capable of flashing the drive. If not, then all you need is a VIA card with the 6421 chipset, they are all over the net. Like the other member said, Jungle Flasher tutorial is the best and so is the application.

Jungle Flasher says no via ports were found. Do i have to have the dvd drive plugged in with the sata and powered for it to detect the ports or does this mean i don't have the correct via card?

Ok, so I connected it all up and started JF and the drive doesn't show. So, this means that I have to buy the Via Card? How do you install the via card?

You will also need the PortIO32 driver. That is possibly why it didn't show up in Jungle Flasher with your onboard SATA.

its using a program called ABGX to scan the iso to see if all the necessary security files are there to prevent MS from detecting it as a copy.

Ok, Ive got my drive flashed. The only issue I have now is that i get the open tray error and dirty disc error on my backups quite often, but not on my originals. My drive was flashed to Iextreme 1.4. I do use memorex and my question is, is it my memorex dvds that's causing this or is there a later firmaware out, or is there another cause?

newest firmware is 1.51. Try to use better media memorex is very poor. Also you may need to do a pot calibration. backups are harder to read than originals.

I only use the verbratin disc as these are very good i have tried a few of the cheaper brands that have worked but have found those to be very noisey
