I have been a loyal PS customer since 1996. After treating my PS3 like a tender baby the past 15 months, the BluRay suddenly stopped working! Sony refuses to address this issue and continues to refer me to their "Warranty", and their "Policy". None of these things help me. Please join me and contact Peter Dille at Sony to let him know that passing off design flaws on consumers is NOT OK!
It is a bit of a discrace. I still have my PS2, and even my PS1, both still read disks. My PS3 s still working but as we've seen quite a few drives are dying. Unfortunately its what you get when a company makes you pay for a quality product whilst they themselves spend as little as possible on manufacuring or buying the product in order to increase their profits.
Too bad they can get away with it thanks to the drives lasting about a year, they can claim the drive has become detective due to natural wear and tear. Which probably is the case thanks to most likely the cheap materials the drives have been made from to reduce cost.
I had a similar problem. Blu ray died with 2.6 update. Out of Warranty. Contacted Sony, too bad so sad they told me. Not much choice but to send in and pay for repair. I sent a letter to Sony. They did reply. Can't help me since I already paid for service. I guess a refund is too difficult for them.
no ofense and not trying to piss people off , but this is y u buy the EXTENDED warranty, yea they should fix it, but its a very complex machine so its easy to break, and its a multi billion dollar company :/
