this player needs 2 have some work before it was even shipped out. first of all, it didnt have 5.1 surround and you have 2 use stereo cables 4 connection? Come on! I wouldn't have even cared if they made the box a little bigger. Get with the program! The tech has been there for years and we can even get it in a box? I don't know about u guys in Afterdawn land out there, but when i see a movie no matter how recent or old it is, the sound along with a great picture on a TV makes a big difference, especially if you like to hook up to a sound receiver like i do.
IMO, this is a huge letdown 4 the player for 2 reasons: 1) It does support 5.1 surround sound, don't know about you guys in Afterdawn land, but when u can't get HD out of Roku box, then at least the sensible thing would be to get surround sound at the very least. 2) No HDMI? Come on Roku get with the program! I can get a stand-alone DVD player that has HDMI for less than what they are asking 4 the box! The tech has been out there for a while, so let's use it!!
Quote:Netflix has over 12,000 movies and TV episodes and Amazon offers over 40,000, including brand new releases the same day as their Blu-ray/DVD street date
This just made smile:)...I think same date as "Store Date" would've been more appropriate! When I think of "Street date, to me that's when a TS or a Screener is available:), on "the streets".

We,"here in Afterdawn land", don't have fancy sound receivers like yourself, but we do learn how to read before posting.
I've had the Roku box since last June. I run it wireless because of the logistics of my computer/router being in my office and the tv in the living room. Too much hassle to try to run cords that far. It does have a HDMI cord. I like it alot, but I am not one of those fussy high techies. It works well. Netflix has done alot to upgrade and expand the selection of movies, documentaries, tv programs that are available. It is abit slow to load, but I think that is more my connection/router etc. than the box. The upgrades that they have recently made have only improved it. If you are trying to get rid of your landline, cable etc. this is a good option and it's cheap in comparison. I happen to like Netflix alot. I wish they would get some HBO and STARZ programming and it would be near to perfect.
